Due to the current coronavirus outbreak, we at Breconshire DofE will be suspending all planned activities until Autumn where we will review DofE guidelines.

We will let you know as soon as possible when we plan to carry out expeditions.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award Levels

Bronze Award

The Bronze Award is open to young people aged between 14 and 25. Here at Breconshire we usually start with young people in year 10. It will take a minimum of 6 months to complete.

The Silver Award is open to young people aged between 15 and 25.  It will take new participants a minimum of 12 months to complete but those who have completed their bronze first can finish in 6 months.

The Gold Award is very prestigious.  It is open to young people aged between 16 and 25. It will take new participants a minimum of 18 months to complete, but those who have completed their Silver could complete in 12 months.

Volunteer Bureau

Brecon Volunteer Bureau will be open until 5pm on a Tuesday as from the 1st June if you want to call in about volunteering opportunities.  The lady there is called Francesca.

Our philosophy

Huntingdon House is a Community Interest Company which is based in Brecon.  We believe that the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme should be open to everyone.  Therefore we will welcome anyone who wants to register at our centre to do their award.  We provide support and help where we can, especially to those who may find doing their Award financially challenging.

All of our leaders are volunteers and give up their time freely to support the young people with their expeditions and other sections of the award.  We therefore keep our costs to a minimum and do not make a profit.
